ASLA (NSW) Development Grant

Purpose of the grant

ASLA (NSW) Inc. may award up tp $3000 per annum to support ASLA (NSW) members in developing their knowledge and skills as school library professionals.


ASLA (NSW) Research Study Grant

Purpose of the grant

ASLA (NSW) Inc. awards up to $1000 per annum to encourage and assist ASLA (NSW) members to pursue research-based activities that align with the mission of the Association.

Activities can range from assistance to attend a research-based event to development of a research project, eg. mentorship or communication costs, assistance with data analysis, publication costs.

Who can apply

Current members of ASLA (NSW) of at least one year standing. 

 NOTE Applications can occur at any time. There is no deadline.

 Process for applying for Research Study Grant
  • download application form for the Research Study Grant.
 Ensure that you:
  • state professional aim for the Research Study Grant 
  • write an outline of research interest
  • provide a plan and time-frame for dissemination of the outcomes received
  • supply names of two referees who are asked to specifically comment on how closely the application matches the judging criteria.
  • complete application form and forward to Awards Coordinator ASLA (NSW) Inc. at aslainfo@ozemail.com.au or PO Box 1336 Parramatta NSW 2124
 Judging Criteria
In making the award, the ASLA (NSW) Awards Panel will take into account the following criteria:
  • current relevance to the profession of the area of study chosen or the degree to which the study will further the aims of ASLA (NSW) and its research initiatives.
  • candidate's commitment to the profession
  • proven ability or interest in the project subject
  • potential to apply the knowledge of the subject within the profession
  • proven ability to be able to communicate orally and verbally
 A successful applicant  will
  • Share outcomes of experience through other forums (e.g. delivering a paper, conducting a workshop or seminar at ASLA (NSW) Professional Learning Events, prepare a report based on the experience) to ASLA (NSW) members.
  • Where possible, prepare a paper for inclusion on ASLA (NSW) Website or ASLA (NSW) newsletter info@aslansw
